drive-in theater

Rated: E · Poetry · Satire · #2360529

the most disgusting & unknown hole-in-the-wall drive-in theater to open up near you

6 pm showing at the new Sacramento 6,
sleek chrome on a pop-up billboard
they opened with an obscure soap-opera—
nosferatus with threadbare frocks

parked in your dads beat up ford,
coffee-stained cushions illuminated with technicolor
stale popcorn bursting in my mouth—
m&ms camouflaging the lethargic taste

dozens of cigarette butts littered in the foyer,
a crackhead is sleeping on a movie poster
we giggle at a kiss scene with contempt—
shared disdain over the tawdry acting

it finishes with a melodramatic suicide;
teenagers groan with resentment
a cockroach crawls over the projector—
hush sweeps over the decrepit lot
