Sincere poem on my shortcomings as a practicing Christian and my longing for God. |
| I speak of my faith, yet I don't act on it, I perform acts of generosity, for others to see, and when I pray, I announce it. Am I making it all be about You or of me? Am I truly in awe of You, Or have I become the center of my universe? I want to give You the best, but you want the rest. Am I to reveal my true self to be fully known? Please give me the strength to do just that! You can reside in the stars, hover over the ocean, rest in green pastures, yet you choose to reside in me. May I create a temple, worthy of Your presence. I want You close, so You reside in me, I want You far, so You can’t see the rest of me, I want you near, yet I don’t feel worthy of your presence, I ask for forgiveness, yet I am ashamed. I always want of You Lord. Please forgive me. May I hunger for You, And desire nothing in return. May I be in awe, truly in awe of You. Dear Lord, may I hunger forever. |
